scholarship award in 1999, rishi graduated with bsc economics (honours) at the london school of economics and an executive management programme at wharton business school. after a successful career in investment banking, he returned to mauritius having spent 15 years across usa, europe and australia. the son of the founders of les marionnettes, rishi is passionate about sowing into the early years of childhood which he believes set individuals up for life. shannon briggs director australian born and bred, shannon worked as a cabin manager for the qantas airline group until she became a mother in 2009. her passion almost overnight went from looking after adults to young children, in particular their holistic development by striking a balance between classroom and non-academic activities. prior to moving to mauritius in 2014, shannon lived for 4 years in london where she had the opportunity to become familiar with the early childhood programme in the uk. jaya nursimulu senior advisor founder and director of les marionnettes and bethany primary school, jaya brings with her over 40 years of expertise in the field of education. her vision has always been to create a truly open-minded, pleasant and affectionate atmosphere in which youngsters across the island can learn, develop and flourish. she lays particular emphasis on educating moral values and instilling confidence. jaya is also the director of bethany teachers training institute (sound values ltd) and sits on the board of the mauritius association of pre-primary schools. ragini thumiah manager-dukesbridge vacoas ragini started her career with les marionnettes in 1997 and has since held several teaching roles in schools in quatre-bornes. over the years, she has developed her own style with children, which involves winning their respect with her tender loving, individual approach whilst maintaining discipline all the same. her genuine keenness to see the children flourish coupled with her gentle spirit make her a favourite of many of our students (and parents). ragini holds a certificate iii children services from tafe (australia). facilities excellence at every level -- holiday club for both winter and summer school holidays, we have an action-packed “vacances spéciales” schedule for a daily morning session (from 8.30am until 11.30am) as well as a full-day session (from 8.30am until 3.00pm). our objective is to give the kids a proper holiday experience, one which they will not forget, by combining organised games, fun activities, lots of outdoor play and even a couple of outings. the school holiday programme is also open to children aged 3-11. -- after school club the after school club programme runs from 2pm to 5pm every weekday and involves a series of fun activities for kids to get involved in after school hours. the activities include fascinating story-telling, painting, music, singing, dance, cooking, arts & craft, and a science discovery session. the club is open to children aged 3-11 from neighbouring schools from where transport can also be arranged. -- infrastructure we currently operate out of multiple campuses, each comprising well conducive environment for the children to develop and flourish, whether it is the size of the classrooms, the choice of school furniture or even the toilet facilities which have been especially designed for small children. -- playground each campus has a large open grassed space with outdoor playground equipment which provides endless hours of fun for our children. we recognise that the playground is a vital part of childhood that helps children develop physical strength, coordination and balance. playing in the playground is subject to constant supervision from members of staff who at the same time help develop the child’s self-care skills. other outdoor activities such as ball games and ride-ons are constantly organised and coordinated by the educators. -- indoor play we recognise that play is not only a fun activity for kids to unwind and to let off steam, but that it is a rather vital component of any child’s development and education. at dukesbridge, we teach through play. this is factored into the daily timetable from an early age. our classrooms are decked out with role play equipment such as the shop corner or the kitchen corner. there is also structured play time with educational toys such as duplo, playdoh and building blocks which help develop the fine motor skills, enhance creative thinking and learn problem solving skills. -- security we fully appreciate the responsibility that is attached to being entrusted with the children of our clients. our premises are all compliant with the fire services regulations and are fully approved by the ministry of education. all classroom equipment and toys are carefully studied by the administration to ensure that safety norms are met. in addition, our premises are equipped with security cameras which are monitored centrally by the school’s administration. -- music & dance we dedicate considerable time to dancing, music, singing and acting as we believe they are fundamental to a
